Organic food: renewed demand for organic products

From April to July 2026, Germans spent more money on organic products compared to the same period in the previous year, according to data from the Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft (BÖLW). The total turnover for organic products during this period reached 4.75 billion euros, representing a 3.8% increase over the prior quarter. While the growth was not adjusted for price increases in the food retail sector, it still significantly outpaced these rises. Retailers such as dm and Rossmann reported nearly 20% higher sales of organic products, although they account for only about 12.5% of the overall market. In contrast, the organic specialty store sector saw stagnant demand at 820 million euros. The BÖLW attributed this shift to consumers increasingly purchasing organic products in conventional supermarkets and drugstores rather than specialized organic stores.

Bias read (Center): The article presents factual economic data regarding the growth of organic product consumption in Germany without overtly promoting any political ideology. It reports on market trends, consumer behavior, and industry responses without taking a clear ideological stance. The framing remains neutral,侧重
