Big Hit Music ramps up Yeonjun's global solo push with new EP

Big Hit Music has intensified its efforts to promote Yeonjun, a member of the popular K-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT), as a solo artist with the release of his second solo EP titled No Labels: Part 02. This latest project marks a significant milestone in Yeonjun's evolving musical journey, showcasing his growth and creative independence beyond his work with TXT. The EP is scheduled to drop on Friday and includes six tracks, with the lead single being "Ice Cream." The release of this EP follows approximately eight months since Yeonjun's debut solo release, Ggum, a 2024 mixtape that launched his solo career. His first solo EP, No Labels: Part 01, was well-received and featured the hard-rocking track "Talk to You," which highlighted Yeonjun's involvement in songwriting, composition, and performance direction. With No Labels: Part 02, Yeonjun aims to expand his musical horizons even further, incorporating genres such as rap rock, funk rock, R&B, pop, and alternative hip-hop into his sound. Two tracks on the EP include lyrics written by Yeonjun himself—“Baby Wassup?” and “Long Way Long Ride.” The lead single, "Ice Cream," is described as a summer-themed funk rock song that uses ice cream as a metaphor for a relationship that is both sweet and emotionally distant. The track features vintage drum beats, bass lines, and Spanish-style guitar riffs, creating a refreshing and summery atmosphere. Yeonjun was heavily involved in the creative process, including the design of the choreography for the song. The dance moves are inspired by the concept of melting, aiming to visually represent the texture and essence of ice cream. In preparation for the EP's launch, Yeonjun will host a release party in Seoul on Thursday. During the event, he plans to premiere the performance of "Ice Cream" and share B-side tracks from the EP. Additionally, there will be a talk session where Yeonjun discusses the behind-the-scenes aspects of creating the album. This performance will make him the second K-pop solo artist to appear on the show, following BTS' Jungkook.
