Who is entitled and when are they not covered by the ZZZS?

Starting July 1, 2026, white (composite) dental fillings will become fully covered by the mandatory health insurance provider ZZZS for all insured individuals, including adults over 26 years old. Previously, these fillings were only free for children under 15, young people under 26, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and those with visible teeth. The new policy aligns with European guidelines aiming to phase out mercury-based amalgam fillings and reduce the use of mercury. This change is expected to cost ZZZS approximately €16.1 million annually. However, ZZZS does not cover the replacement of existing amalgam fillings solely for aesthetic reasons. Patients will still need to pay for such replacements unless the existing filling is damaged or the tooth requires new treatment.

Fraudsters on the phone accuse false debts

The Slovenian Health Insurance Institute (ZZZS) has warned citizens about fraudulent phone calls where impersonators falsely claim they owe money to ZZZS and threaten home visits. These callers attempt to deceive individuals by using personal information and demanding sensitive data. ZZZS emphasizes that they do not make such calls or organize home visits and urges people not to provide any personal or health-related information during these scams. They recommend recording the caller’s number if visible and reporting the incident to the police or data protection authorities. This is not the first time such scams have occurred, with similar tactics used in previous years under different healthcare-related themes.

Bias read (Center): The article presents a factual warning about fraud targeting ZZZS, without overtly favoring any political side. It focuses on informing the public about the scam rather than taking a stance on broader political issues.
