Aurum hits more golden paydirt beyond West African resource
Aurum Resources has discovered additional gold reserves at its Boundiali project in West Africa, with findings including 0.65 million tonnes grading at 41.38 grams per tonne. This discovery comes before a major gold resource update expected this month. The project currently holds a total resource estimate of 3.22 million ounces of gold. These new findings could significantly boost the project's overall value and attract further investment.
Aurum Resources has uncovered new gold reserves at its Boundiali project in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa, with a notable discovery of 0.65 metres of rock containing 41.38 grams of gold per tonne. This find lies outside the company's existing 570,000-ounce BST1 gold resource, which is fully owned by Aurum. The discovery comes ahead of an anticipated resource update for the project, scheduled for the end of October. The newly identified gold deposit is located within the Boundiali South tenement, at the southern edge of the company’s flagship Boundiali gold project, which holds a total of 3.22 million ounces of gold. The latest assay results stem from 25 diamond drillholes totaling 7,121.75 metres at the BST1 deposit. These tests are part of Aurum’s expansive 150,000-metre diamond drilling initiative aimed at exploring potential extensions of the target area both horizontally and vertically, as well as enhancing confidence in the resource estimates. Aurum operates 16 diamond drill rigs across its Boundiali and Napié gold projects in West Africa, contributing to the ongoing exploration efforts. Dr. Caigen Wang, managing director of Aurum Resources, stated that the company has received assay results for 25 additional diamond drillholes, amounting to 7,122 metres at BST1, all drilled prior to the 30 September 2026 cut-off date for the upcoming Boundiali Mineral Resource Estimate. These holes are part of the 120 completed holes, exceeding 31,000 metres, drilled since the last Mineral Resource update, aiming to expand known mineralization and improve confidence in inferred resources. Other significant findings from three different drillholes include 1 metre of rock containing 43.93 grams of gold per tonne from 268 metres downhole, 1.26 metres of rock with 23.10 grams of gold per tonne from a shallow depth of 25 metres, and 5 metres of rock with 5.26 grams of gold per tonne from 283 metres downhole. Two additional holes yielded 13 metres of rock with 2.08 grams of gold per tonne from 258 metres and 20 metres of rock with 1.25 grams of gold per tonne from 145 metres, including 6 metres with 2.29 grams of gold per tonne. These results confirm that the BST1 gold system remains open for further exploration along strike and at greater depths. The updated resource numbers will serve as the foundation for a definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the Boundiali project, which Aurum anticipates delivering in late 2026. The company currently maintains an unaudited cash balance of over $95 million after raising $52.5 million through a recent capital raise, supporting its aggressive exploration and development strategy. Aurum’s Boundiali project contributes to a combined gold resource base of 4.38 million ounces, which includes the 1.16 million-ounce Napié gold project, situated 100 kilometres southeast of the Boundiali tenement block. The company plans to conduct 30,000 metres of drilling at Napié, beginning this quarter. Both of Aurum’s primary gold projects lie within the Birimian Greenstone Belt, a region spanning five countries in West Africa and home to numerous large-scale gold deposits. The company’s holdings are near several major mining operations, such as Perseus Mining’s Sissingué mine on the border of Côte d’Ivoire and Mali, Resolute Mining’s Syama mine in Mali, and Barrick Gold’s Tongon mine in Côte d’Ivoire, located approximately 60 kilometres east of the northern end of Aurum’s 80 percent-owned BM tenement. With its fleet of company-owned diamond drill rigs operating continuously, substantial financial backing, and a resource update approaching, Aurum is actively advancing its exploration and development programs in the region.
