Arsonist father who killed six of his children in a house fire 'is going to make a bid for freedom'

Mick Philpott, the man responsible for setting fire to his home while six of his children slept inside, has reportedly begun preparations to seek parole. The former arsonist, who was sentenced to life in prison for manslaughter, is believed to be planning to apply for early release, which would become possible next May. The tragic incident occurred in May 2012, when Philpott ignited a fire in his residence in West Yorkshire. His intention was to stage the death of his children as a heroic act, blaming his estranged lover, Mairead, for the blaze. He planned to rescue the children through an upper-floor window and present himself as a victim. However, the fire spiraled beyond control due to excessive amounts of fuel, leading to the deaths of all six children, Duwayne, 13; Jade, 10; John, nine; Jack, eight; Jesse, six; and Jayden, five. Philpott, who was already serving a prison sentence for attacking his schoolgirl lover with a knife, had a history of violent behavior and manipulative tactics.
