Aptech Nigeria makes history with first National Convocation

Aptech Nigeria made history on 8 August 2026 with the holding of its first-ever National Convocation, marking a landmark achievement for the organization. The event took place at the Sheraton Lagos and drew a large crowd including over 130 graduates, more than 400 parents, family members, and guests, along with Aptech partners, faculty, industry representatives, and other stakeholders. This gathering underscored the significance of the occasion, which was themed “One Milestone. Many Futures.” The convocation went beyond merely celebrating academic success; it recognized the entire learner journey, encompassing classroom learning, project work, examinations, and the development of confidence, skills, and professional readiness necessary for future careers. For the graduates, stepping onto the stage symbolized the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Parents and families viewed the event as a moment of immense pride, witnessing the formal acknowledgment of their children's efforts and the support they had provided throughout the educational process. The scale of the event highlighted the extensive reach of Aptech within Nigeria, with partners from a network of 70 plus training centers across the nation participating. This demonstrated the organization's substantial influence and contributions to technology and vocational education nationwide. This year holds particular importance for Aptech globally, as it marks the organization's 40th anniversary since its founding. Over the past four decades, Aptech has established itself as a leader in providing career-focused technology and creative education, equipping learners with industry-relevant skills and opening doors to new academic and career prospects. The inaugural Nigeria National Convocation served as a tangible expression of this global legacy, bringing it to life on a national level by honoring a new cohort of graduates poised to engage in a rapidly evolving digital and innovation-driven economy. Aptech's enduring presence in Nigeria, supported by its network of 70 plus training centers, illustrates its ongoing commitment to expanding access to practical, career-oriented skill development across the country. During the convocation, a notable highlight was the announcement of international scholarship opportunities aimed at exceptional students. Four students were awarded 50 percent scholarships toward eligible programs at Middlesex University, United Kingdom, with each scholarship valued at approximately ₦15 million. Collectively, the total scholarship amount reached around ₦60 million, reinforcing the idea that graduation signifies not just the end of a program but the start of new academic and international pathways. The ceremony was further enriched by the presence of renowned Nigerian actress, fitness advocate, and philanthropist Kate Henshaw, who served as the Special Guest of Honour. She received the Social Impact Innovative Award under the NexVision Global Awards, an initiative by Aptech. In her speech to the graduates, Henshaw emphasized the importance of skills, personal growth, and the responsibility to make a positive impact. She noted that Aptech had invested in lives, and that a vast world awaits those equipped with the skills these students had acquired. Dr. Kallol Mukherjee, Executive Vice President and Head of International Business at Aptech, addressed the graduating class, urging them to view the ceremony as the beginning rather than the end of their professional journeys. He encouraged continued learning, belief in their potential, and the effective use of their skills to create opportunities and drive progress. His message aligned with the overarching theme of the convocation, emphasizing that graduation represents the launchpad for future endeavors.
