Apapa Customs record N323bn July revenue collection

The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has recorded a historic monthly revenue collection of N323 billion in July 2026, marking the highest amount ever collected by the command in a single month. This achievement surpasses the previous record of N304 billion collected in October 2025 under the leadership of Customs Area Controller Emmanuel Oshoba. The figures were revealed during a monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers of Terminals and Unit Heads, where Oshoba outlined the factors contributing to this impressive result. The success is attributed to a combination of policy support, operational reforms, and improved compliance within the command. Oshoba emphasized the role of technological advancements in streamlining customs procedures and enhancing efficiency. He highlighted the improved performance of the B’Odogwu system, which had previously faced operational challenges but has since been upgraded to deliver stronger outcomes. Additionally, the implementation of the One-Stop Shop initiative has significantly reduced cargo delivery times, fostering a more predictable and supportive environment for legitimate importers. Oshoba also pointed to the positive impact of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) framework, which currently benefits over 200 entities. This program has played a crucial role in boosting the command's revenue profile. Furthermore, intelligence-driven enforcement operations have bolstered compliance efforts, with officers intensifying interventions to identify false declarations and enforce valuation principles to safeguard national revenue. The Customs Area Controller expressed appreciation for the commitment of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the broader management team for their dedication to modernizing the Nigeria Customs Service.
