They agree to create a new municipality in Simojovel, Chiapas; AchLum El Triunfo would become the 125th town hall of the state

Residents of eleven communities within the municipality of Simojovel, in northern Chiapas, have agreed through a show of hands to establish a new municipality named Ach’Lum El Triunfo. This would bring the total number of municipalities in Chiapas to 125, following approval by the state legislature of its constitution. The agreement was reached during a meeting held this Sunday as part of the process to officially formalize the creation of the new municipality. The new municipality will include the communities of La Ceiba, El Triunfo, Chapayal, José Castillo Tielemans, Los Arrayanes, El Pencil, San Antonio Nuevo León, La Frontera, Porvenir Vinote, and La Ceibita. Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar attended the event to witness the proceedings. He emphasized that the act of remunicipalization, carried out according to legal guidelines and based on consensus and social unity, represents the fulfillment of a long-standing desire of women and men who fought over four decades for this goal. Ramírez Aguilar described the moment as a turning point, marking the beginning of a new era for Ach’Lum El Triunfo. He praised the chosen name, stating it reflects the triumph felt throughout the community. The governor launched a call for public consultation on August 9, inviting residents to participate in voting. If the population reaffirms its will in the polls, they will receive official recognition confirming Ach’Lum El Triunfo as the 125th constitutional municipality in Chiapas. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting unity and consensus, pledging continued collaboration with future municipal authorities to advance key programs and infrastructure projects aimed at improving living conditions and quality of life for families. Ach’Lum El Triunfo will be integrated into the government's strategy known as “Del Olvido a la Prosperidad,” which encompasses initiatives designed to combat marginalization and backwardness. The president of Simojovel, Agenor Domínguez Hernández, expressed gratitude for the governmental support enabling the realization of the request from the eleven communities forming the new municipality. Abelardo Cruz Pérez, president of the ejidal commission of Pueblo Nuevo Sitalá and representative of the communities of Ach’Lum El Triunfo, highlighted that the creation of the municipality embodies the collective aspirations of the community. The formal process for establishing the new municipality began on July 1 with the publication of a decree in the official state newspaper, proposed by Ramírez Aguilar, stemming from the request of the eleven communities. The document outlines the framework for the development and expansion of public consultations as mechanisms for citizen participation, strengthening governmental decision-making through input from societal sectors.
