NGAfe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Nigeria, in partnership with the International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN), has initiated a program called the ISN-ABUAD Advanced School on Stroke Neurochemistry and Cerebrovascular Resilience. This eight-day program brings together global experts and early-career researchers from across Africa to enhance neuroscience research capacity and training. The initiative, funded by a competitive educational grant from ISN, involves 30 participants, including Nigerian and international researchers, who receive training from experts in Africa, Europe, North America, and South America. The program focuses on topics such as cerebrovascular neurochemistry, stroke mechanisms, glial biology, neurotransmitter regulation, and neuroimmune signaling. The goal is to strengthen neuroscience capacity in Africa to address the increasing burden of neurological disorders and provide young scientists with advanced research skills and international collaboration opportunities.
