2027: Yari has structure, network to deliver Tinubu’s victory — Shinkafi

Abuja, Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has asserted that Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari possesses the necessary political structure, experience, and nationwide network to ensure a victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 presidential election. In a statement released on Saturday, Shinkafi praised Tinubu’s decision to appoint Yari as Director-General of the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, highlighting his loyalty, competence, and understanding of grassroots politics. Shinkafi emphasized that the campaign requires a leader who can connect with the people, navigate the complexities of party machinery, and translate political aspirations into tangible results. He described Yari as a candidate who embodies these qualities, citing his extensive political career spanning decades and multiple levels of governance. According to Shinkafi, Yari's ability to build and maintain networks across different regions and political factions makes him uniquely suited to lead the campaign. Yari’s political journey began at the grassroots level in Zamfara, where he played a pivotal role in the 2003 campaign that facilitated the re-election of former governor Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura. As chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, in Zamfara, he led efforts that strengthened local party structures and contributed to the broader political landscape. Later, he became the party’s National Treasurer, further solidifying his influence and credibility within the organization. After leaving ANPP, Yari transitioned into the Nigerian Senate, where he continued to engage with key political figures and organizations. His tenure as governor of Zamfara State saw him actively support the formation of the APC, even while the party was still in its early stages. This period marked a turning point in his career, as he helped establish the APC’s presence in the state and laid the groundwork for future political alliances. Shinkafi noted that Yari’s involvement in both the creation and expansion of the APC underscores his deep understanding of party dynamics and strategic planning. His work with traditional institutions, women and youth groups, and cross-party relationships has positioned him as a trusted figure capable of mobilizing diverse constituencies. These attributes, according to Shinkafi, are essential for translating political goodwill into electoral success. The former APGA national secretary also stressed the importance of collaboration among APC members and stakeholders, urging them to fully cooperate with the campaign council. He expressed confidence that Yari’s leadership would bring discipline and focus to the campaign, ultimately securing a second term for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
