Press conference in front of SUI-CAN Yakin: Football is not a wish concert

Ahead of Switzerland's crucial World Cup group stage match against Canada, both teams' coaches have stated they will not adjust their tactics based on the outcome of the game. Swiss coach Murat Yakin emphasized that football is not a 'wish concert,' indicating he expects a straightforward approach. Similarly, Canadian coach Jesse Marsch said his team would play as usual, aiming to win regardless of the situation. The match has significant implications for both teams, as the winner will secure first place in the group and gain an eight-day break before the knockout stages, while the loser will face a shorter four-day rest period. Both teams have drawn inspiration from basketball strategies, with Swiss player Yanic Niederhäuser training with NBA legend Steve Nash, who advised Canada's team on balancing defensive discipline with offensive freedom.

After the earthquake of the century Venezuela Death toll in Venezuela rises to over 1900

Following a major earthquake in Venezuela, the death toll has risen to at least 1943, according to Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly. Over 10,500 people were injured, and approximately 10,000 residents remain missing in the heavily affected region of La Guaira. The United Nations warned of acute shortages of food and shelter for survivors, while health experts raised concerns about potential epidemics. NASA estimates that around 58,870 buildings across the affected area were damaged or destroyed. Survivors expressed frustration and anger toward authorities, demanding more decisive action. Some videos show people urging soldiers to assist in clearing debris. Criticism has been directed at interim President Delcy Rodríguez, who faced backlash after being booed during a visit to Caracas and criticized for a symbolic meeting with international rescue teams during a critical time. Venezuela was already facing significant challenges, including political tensions, economic difficulties, and a global migration crisis. In January, U.S. military forces intervened, leading to the capture of authoritarian leader Nicolás Maduro, with Rodríguez serving as vice president under他的

The article discusses Switzerland's preparedness for future heatwaves following a record-breaking heatwave. Climate expert Christian von Burg explains that extreme weather events like the recent heatwave are expected to become more frequent due to global warming. He highlights that current climate goals are being missed, and the country relies too heavily on international compensation measures rather than domestic action. The article notes that Switzerland's infrastructure is poorly equipped to handle heat, with most buildings designed for winter warmth, limited air conditioning, and insufficient urban greenery. It emphasizes the need for both climate protection and immediate adaptation strategies, including better urban planning, increased tree cover, and changes in daily habits.

Introduction of 'extra maternity leave' in France: a lever for equality or a smoke screen?

The French government has introduced a new 'additional birth leave' policy aimed at promoting gender equality by allowing parents to take additional time off after the birth of a child. The policy has sparked debate over whether it is a genuine step toward equality or merely symbolic. Critics argue that the measure does not address deeper structural issues related to work-life balance and parental responsibilities. Supporters see it as a positive move to encourage shared parenting and reduce the burden on mothers. The policy reflects broader discussions in France about family policies and their impact on social equity.
