Ownership
Berlingske (full title Berlingske Tidende) is Denmark's oldest daily, published by Berlingske Media. Owned by the Berling family until 1982 and later passing through Mecom and the Belgian group DPG Media, Berlingske Media was sold to the Norwegian publisher Amedia, a deal that completed in early 2025. Amedia is itself a foundation-owned, politically independent Nordic media group; as part of the transaction the Danish regional publisher Jysk Fynske Medier took a roughly 30% stake in Berlingske Media.
Funding
Commercially financed through reader subscriptions and digital paywall revenue, print sales and advertising, alongside the broader Berlingske Media portfolio (B.T., Weekendavisen, Euroinvestor). No state or party subsidy.
Affiliation & stance
Berlingske takes a conservative, center-right and economically liberal editorial line but is not tied to any political party or the state. Because it is privately and commercially owned by an independent, foundation-backed media group with no party or government control, it is classified INDEPENDENT.
