Biogas könnte neue Impulse erhalten

The article reports on increased usage of biomass for energy production in Hungary in 2025 compared to 2024. The amount of biomass burned in power plants and heating facilities rose by 23% to over 230,000 tons. The use of firewood for energy purposes saw an even more significant increase, doubling to 736,000 tons, representing a 105% growth. In the biogas sector, 3.4 million tons of biomass were processed, with wastewater sludge accounting for nearly 45% of this total. Industrial by-products and waste contributed over 1 million tons, including notable contributions from brewing and dairy industries. Animal-based by-products, such as manure, accounted for 19% of the total biomass used. The AKI analysis suggests the bioenergy sector could gain new momentum, supported by investments starting in 2026 under the Jedlik Ányos Energy Program and the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan, which aim to promote renewable energy and circular economy practices.
