The brothers, known for their controversial online presence promoting wealth, male dominance, and misogynistic views, are set to appear in Miami's federal court early next week, according to an anonymous source familiar with the operation. The brothers, dual U.S. and British citizens, relocated to Romania in 2016. In 2022, they were arrested there on accusations of participating in schemes to lure women for sexual exploitation. However, the case stalled due to legal and procedural issues, and the brothers were eventually permitted to leave Romania last year, traveling to Florida aboard a private jet. British prosecutors announced on Saturday that they are seeking the brothers' extradition on charges alleging they raped and trafficked women between 2010 and 2017. The alleged crimes took place in an area north of London, where the brothers grew up. Joseph McBride, one of the brothers' attorneys, stated that he has not yet spoken directly with his clients but criticized the new charges as “filth and slander.” He claimed the charges aim to undermine defamation lawsuits the brothers have filed in the U.S. McBride argued that the British authorities are attempting to prevent the brothers from receiving a fair trial, asserting that once a competent judge reviews the evidence and the Department of Justice addresses the misuse of its authority, the brothers will be exonerated. He emphasized that the U.S. does not engage in Britain’s political affairs. Andrew Tate, 39, gained national attention as a contestant on the U.K. reality show Big Brother in 2016. He was removed from the show after a video emerged showing him allegedly assaulting a woman. The brothers are vocal supporters of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Andrew Tate has accumulated over 10 million followers on X but has faced bans on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for violating hate speech policies. His inflammatory rhetoric includes remarks suggesting that women who are sexually assaulted share some blame for their attacks, explicit descriptions of potential violence against women, and critiques of individuals seeking mental health treatment. The Tate brothers have consistently denied allegations of abuse and human trafficking, insisting that their violent and misogynistic statements were either taken out of context or were meant as jokes. According to the U.K.'s Crown Prosecution Service, in addition to previously announced charges involving alleged crimes against three women, the prosecution is bringing a total of 38 new charges related to four additional victims. Both brothers face charges of rape and human trafficking. Andrew Tate is additionally accused of profiting from prostitution and 19 charges linked to possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography, per U.K. authorities.
