His remarks were made in response to questions raised by MPs from Compromís and the Socialists about the exploitation of migrants in Nules. The operation in question, conducted by the Guardia Civil in April 2026, resulted in the rescue of 80 individuals and the arrest of seven people for crimes related to human trafficking, labor exploitation, and facilitating illegal immigration. The Guardia Civil confirmed that the beneficiaries of the trafficking ring were a married couple of Pakistani origin who had been capturing and exploiting people from their home country. The investigation was carried out in coordination with the Provincial Prosecutor's Office for Human Trafficking in Castellón, and the evidence has been submitted to the competent judicial authority. Following the incident, the Socialists and Compromís expressed serious concerns over the implications of Muñoz’s statements.
