Police personnel of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) within the Nigeria Police Force recently completed a two-day training program focused on enhancing their capabilities in rescue operations, emergency response, and tactical interventions. The session, held in Abuja, was organised under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Edgard Consulting Limited, a risk management organisation specialising in training, risk assessment, and protection services. The training aimed to improve the operational readiness of the IRT members by equipping them with modern techniques and skills necessary for addressing contemporary security threats and emergency scenarios. The training covered a range of critical areas, including rapid emergency response, tactical movement, rescue coordination, casualty evacuation, first responder actions, weapon handling, anti-hostage operations, and preparedness for high-risk situations. These modules were designed to align with international standards observed in countries such as Israel, the United States, and parts of Europe. Lead instructor Mr. Simeon Itodo highlighted that participants engaged in hands-on exercises involving weapon handling, search and rescue procedures, anti-hostage scenarios, and emergency medical response, including the management of gunshot injuries. Mr. Edward Orim, the Principal Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Edgard Consulting Limited, stated that the training was conducted free of charge as part of the company's contribution to national security and the development of law enforcement personnel. He emphasised the firm's ongoing commitment to supporting security agencies through capacity-building programs and professional training, which aim to enhance the operational effectiveness of personnel. Orim noted that the partnership with the Nigeria Police Force reflects the importance of collaboration between private entities and public institutions in achieving shared goals related to safety and security. Participants who attended the training expressed satisfaction with the content and delivery of the sessions. They described the program as practical and beneficial, highlighting improvements in their decision-making abilities, teamwork, and response strategies during emergencies. Officers noted that the training deepened their understanding of victim evacuation procedures, injury management, and coordinated rescue operations. A female participant praised the quality of instruction, especially the sessions dedicated to first aid and emergency response protocols. The firm reiterated its dedication to contributing to national security through professional training, capacity development, and operational support.
