On the occasion of the municipal holiday in Železniki, seven municipal awards were presented. The awards were given to volunteer fire departments Sorica and Rudno for their 120th and 100th anniversaries respectively. Mayor Marko Gasser emphasized the value of people who contribute, support each other, create, and build relationships within the community. He highlighted recent projects such as the opening of a bypass in Železniki, improvements to state roads through Log and the core area of Sorica, ongoing work on the state road towards Škofja Loka, the renovation of a swimming pool, installation of solar panels on municipal buildings, and important flood prevention measures including a retention basin under Sušo. Upcoming challenges include renovating the sports hall, adding an extension to the Primary School Železniki, establishing a cycling connection between Selce, Dolenja Vas, and Ševlje, and upgrading the district heating system. Five additional awards were given to active community groups, including hunting clubs, ski clubs, bowling clubs, and shooting associations. Awards were also given to top-performing students and athletes.
