Freiburg’s sporting director, Jochen Saier, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stating that the move was the result of intensive discussions between both sides. “The shared journey from the U19 level to the Europa League final was particularly meaningful for Johan and us,” he said. “After weeks of talks, both parties benefit from this solution.” The club is now looking to replace Manzambi with Yannik Engelhardt, a 22-year-old who played for Freiburg’s reserve squad from 2021 to 2023. FC Cologne has signed 18-year-old attacking talent Reigan Heskey from Manchester City. Heskey, son of former national team player Emile Heskey, joins Cologne on a five-year contract through 2031.
