Fionntán Ó Súilleabháin, a member of the Irish parliament representing Wexford and Wicklow, was informed by company staff that the relocation plans are underway. He noted that the move is expected to occur after the current financial year concludes. Ó Súilleabháin described the situation as particularly challenging for Carnew, a town situated on the border of Wicklow and Wexford with a population of just over 1,000. He emphasized that the town lacks substantial alternative employment opportunities, making it difficult for long-term employees to relocate to Donegal. Malcolm Byrne, another TD representing the area, has engaged in discussions with Wicklow County Council, the Industrial Development Agency (IDA), and the Carnew Town Team to explore ways to assist affected workers. Byrne stated that relevant state agencies have been assured of providing guidance and support to the displaced workforce following the decision to shift operations to Donegal. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the workers receive appropriate redundancy packages, along with training and upskilling opportunities to facilitate their transition to new employment. Byrne highlighted the significance of the job loss for Carnew, describing it as a vital part of the community's economic fabric.
