Once stabilized and treated at a hospital in Vibo Valentia, the injured were transferred to three different specialized medical centers. The father was sent to Palermo, the mother to Catania, and the child to a hospital in Bari. Medical teams worked tirelessly to save the young girl’s life over several days, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The death of the child was confirmed by the Municipality of Rovigo in the Italian region of Veneto, though this appears to be a possible error given the location of the tragedy in Calabria.
