Just days later, Father Matta Roushdy, a 49-year-old priest at the Virgin Mary and Saint Abanoub Coptic Orthodox Church in Dahab, South Sinai Governorate, was targeted by a group of men. The ministry reportedly found evidence that a coach at Alexandria’s Al-Ittihad Club had excluded a young player named Makari Younan due to his Christian name. A spokesperson cited President Trump’s remarks emphasizing that the United States would always stand up for the right of every person to live out their beliefs without fear.
